Burwash and Sons

About Burwash and Sons

November arrives at Mats Mats Bay quietly, the water like slate between the rock and the moored boats. Burwash and Sons works the yards on that side of Port Ludlow through the short months — final mowing, leaf removal, edging, trimming, and cleanups that clear the drives and walks. Fir needles and big-leaf maple come down nearly all at once here, and left alone they'll smother a lawn by January. There is plain pride in pulling up to a buried yard and leaving it swept, the turf breathing again and the line along the pavement cut clean. Then the light goes at half past four, and that's the day.
