That Yard Guy

About That Yard Guy

Saturday morning in Port Angeles smells like coffee off Laurel Street and cut grass three blocks up the hill. That Yard Guy works those blocks — mowing, string trimming, edging along the sidewalk strips, hedges shaped, clippings and debris hauled off so the curb looks as good as the lawn. It is not complicated work; it is work that has to happen again next week, and the trick is showing up when the grass says so rather than when the calendar does. In this marine air that means most of the year, since yards here stay green long after other places have turned brown. Come back at noon and the mowing is done, the gate is latched, and nobody has to think about the yard until the next pass.
