Redmond keeps its green honestly — long months of soft rain off the Sound, the Sammamish River sliding north along the valley floor, and grass that hardly ever quite goes to sleep. Washington Sod and Turf works in that low wet light: laying sod across a raw grade up on Education Hill until the seams disappear, mowing a strip near Avondale in the cool of the morning while the Cascades are still climbing out of cloud. Aeration and overseeding come in autumn, when the ground opens easy; fertilizing runs ahead of the March push, when everything east of Marymoor turns loud with growth. There is a particular satisfaction in the last pass of the edger — that clean line where turf meets walk, holding all the way through Redmond's dry weeks in August. New lawn or old, the aim stays the same: ground you want to stand on barefoot, from the valley trail up to the ridge.
