About Olympia WA Services

Sylvester Park's paths hold a crust of frost longer than the sidewalks around them on the rare mornings downtown Olympia freezes, shaded as they are by the buildings ringing the square. Olympia WA Services works those downtown blocks first in the cold months, clearing the walkways state workers and downtown residents use to reach the bus stops before a plow ever reaches a side street. The company runs a straightforward route after that: driveways next, then de-icing wherever a sidewalk holds a shadow long enough to keep last night's freeze past sunrise. Snow this far south on Puget Sound rarely amounts to more than an inch before it turns back to rain, but downtown keeps running regardless, and Olympia WA Services covers those unglamorous mornings, the two or three days a year when the rest of downtown is caught without a shovel.
