Down past Al Borlin Park, where cottonwoods lean bare over the water and the summer trail turns to mud by November, GNW Landscaping spends its winters on the same properties it tends the rest of the year. Snow in Monroe rarely piles deep, but it comes wet and heavy off the valley, and a driveway left alone for a day can turn into a skating rink by dusk. The crew clears walks and drives block by block, working outward from the park toward the quieter streets where the maples GNW planted in spring now stand iced and still. It's a small-scale kind of winter work, matched to a town where most yards back up to someone's garden. Clearing a path to the front door here is really just tending the same ground in a different season.
