Methow Tree Works

About Methow Tree Works

Down in the lower reaches of its valley, the Methow River slows among cottonwoods while sagebrush hills climb steep and brown on either side, heat shimmering off them by midafternoon in July. Orchards line the benches, and the little settlement of Methow sits along Highway 153 between the water and the dry slopes. Methow Tree Works cares for trees and lawns across this sun-washed stretch, tending the shade trees that make summer bearable and the patches of lawn beneath them. A well-pruned cottonwood, a yard trimmed and cleared of fallen limbs: in a place this hot, shade and green are the whole point. At dusk, when the canyon breeze cools and the river turns copper, the work shows itself.
