About McCarthy Team

Down on State Avenue, where Marysville's old brick storefronts still carry the shape of the strawberry-farming town this used to be, the McCarthy Team works the sidewalks and small lots tucked behind those facades once frost sets in. It's a different kind of clearing than a suburban driveway — narrower spaces, angled parking, foot traffic that needs a safe path more than a wide one. The team moves block by block through the historic grid, scraping walks down to brick and concrete while the morning light is still low and gold across downtown. A cleared sidewalk in front of an old storefront, frost still clinging to the awning above it, has a certain dignity to it — proof the town's oldest streets are still being looked after. By the time downtown opens for the day, the walk is dry and the cold is somebody else's problem for a while.
