The Cowlitz County Fairgrounds sit mostly quiet through the winter, midway packed away and barns empty until the next fair rolls around, but the lots and lanes still need to be passable for whatever meetings and sales use the grounds in the off-season. Pauley Co Inc handles that kind of general upkeep, and when snow covers the fairgrounds' wide gravel lots, the same equipment that grades and maintains them all year comes back fitted with a blade. Access lanes get cleared first, then the parking areas, worked in the same wide passes a tractor would make on those same lots come July. It is patient, methodical work on ground built for crowds that, for a few months, has none at all.
