A hard overnight cold turns bare dirt into something close to a skating rink, and getting equipment moving again means clearing the access road and the driveway first. The company does the same for finished homes nearby, scraping driveways and front walks down before the ice sets in for good. It's practical, weather-driven work, done so the rest of a build, or the rest of somebody's Tuesday morning, can carry on. Once the ground's workable again, it's back to grading and framing like the cold snap never happened.
