The trailer ramp comes down early in Lake Stevens, before the lake has lost its flat morning surface and while the grass is still silver with dew. Lawn Boy takes the first yard of the day at that hour, when a mower's line shows dark behind it and the cut edge along the walk looks freshly drawn. Mowing, edging, and trimming carry the bulk of it, with the clippings cleared off hard surfaces before anything else gets touched. Spring and fall bring the bigger clearings, hauling out what the season dropped. Working from dawn means finishing streets while the town is still getting going, so the neighborhood wakes up to a lawn already done. Small pleasure, repeated daily, and it holds up.
