October is the honest month in the Tri-Cities. The cottonwoods along the Yakima River delta turn yellow all at once, the light comes in low and gold over Zintel Canyon, and suddenly every lawn in Kennewick is wearing more leaf than grass. TLC Landscape Management spends that stretch clearing it — raking and blowing out the corners, taking the last cuts of the year, aerating and overseeding so what wakes up in March comes back thick instead of thin. The rest of the calendar is the patient part: regular mowing, trimming, edging, feeding, and keeping weeds off ground that never stops trying to reclaim itself. There is a particular satisfaction in a cleanup finished right at dusk, the curbline swept bare and the yard ready for whatever winter does.
