Before most of Kennewick is awake, Evolution Landscape Management is often already out along the greenbelt streets near the Sacagawea Heritage Trail, clearing driveways and walkways ahead of the joggers and dog-walkers who use that river path no matter the weather. The work moves block by block in the gray light before sunrise, a shovel scraping down to concrete, ice melt spread right behind it so it has time to work before anyone's tires or boots reach the spot. Some mornings the fog off the Columbia is thick enough that a driveway thirty feet away disappears, and the crew works mostly by feel and memory of where each walk and step actually sits. By the time commuters start pulling out of driveways along the streets feeding into town, the ice has already lost its grip on the walks that matter. It's plain, repetitive work, done early enough that most of Kennewick never sees it happen at all.
