About Spring Green

Late April in Kenmore begins under a marine layer that hangs on until nearly noon, then lifts to leave rhododendrons blazing along the fences and madrona bark peeling copper in the sun. Spring Green works both halves of that day, mowing through the cool damp morning and finishing edges and trimming once the light comes out. Lawns here are at their most eager in these weeks, and staying ahead of them, rather than catching up, is the whole trick. There is a plain kind of joy in a yard cut even and bordered clean, holding its color right up to the walkway. Kenmore and the towns just beyond it share the same route.
