Rain is the engine of this place. It arrives off the Cascades in long soft weeks and turns every yard between Hobart and Ravensdale an almost unreasonable green, and somebody has to keep up with it. Jim's Mowing (North Hobart) does exactly that — regular mowing, trimming and edging on a route that runs through the fir-shaded lots and open pasture edges north of town. Wet-season grass asks for sharp blades, a light hand, and a willingness to work between showers. The reward comes the moment the sun finally breaks through and the lawn is already cut, tidy and ready for it.
