A yard earns its keep on a Saturday. Out past Beverly Park the little back lawns fill up with kids, dogs, a ball going somewhere it shouldn't, and none of that works if the grass is shaggy and the ground is a mess. Tossing turds keeps those yards usable — mowing on a steady cycle, trimming tight along fence lines and around the swing set legs, edging the walk, and clearing everything off before the gate closes. Everett's damp keeps things growing most of the year, so the visits are regular and the yard never has a chance to get out of hand. The measure of the job is simple: somebody kicks off their shoes and walks straight out into it.
