The Plant Nerds

About The Plant Nerds

Cross the footbridge over the tracks at Howarth Park and the ravine below is a whole lesson in how things grow here — sword fern, moss on everything, sunlight arriving in pieces. The Plant Nerds bring that same close attention up into ordinary Everett front yards, where a thin patch usually has a reason and the reason is usually soil, shade or standing water. So the work starts with looking: what the grass is telling you, where the moss is winning, which corner never dries out. Then comes the fix — feeding, overseeding, moss and weed control, mowing at a height the lawn can actually sustain in this light. Watching a yard somebody had written off turn thick and even over a couple of seasons never really gets old.
