Every weekday morning, Everett's Grand Avenue Park bridge carries a steady line of people walking down from the bluff neighborhoods to the waterfront and back, and on a snowy morning that bridge and its approach stairs are the first thing that has to be clear. Jireh Construction Services works that crossing early in its snow removal route, clearing the steps and the landings before shifting into the driveways and walkways of the streets that feed it from both ends. The bridge sits high enough to catch wind the streets below don't, so a light dusting up there can drift into something deeper by the time the crew reaches it. Once that span is safe underfoot, the rest of the morning's route follows the same commuters back into their own neighborhoods. A lot of Everett crosses that short piece of steel and concrete before breakfast, and the crew makes sure it's solid footing by the time they do.
