Scapes and Spaces

About Scapes and Spaces

In Edmonds the light stretches long into a May evening, and a lawn cut at seven o'clock still holds an hour of gold in it. Scapes and Spaces works that hour, mowing in clean parallel runs and edging a walk until the line between grass and concrete looks like a decision rather than an accident. This is a town of cedar ravines and small water, where Shell Creek drops down through Yost Park under sword fern and moss, so a yard here is really a clearing held open in all that green. The crew trims the borders, keeps the beds defined and the mulch honest, and lets the shape a homeowner imagined be the shape that actually shows from the street. Come Saturday the grass stands even, the corners are sharp, and the whole property reads as one idea instead of a dozen. That is the result worth driving back past.
