Central Services

About Central Services

Lake Chelan holds its blue color even in the dead of winter, a long cold ribbon under hillsides stacked with orchard rows that climb in tight switchbacks above the water. Central Services runs those switchback roads after a snowfall, plowing the steep gravel lanes that lead up to orchard sheds and packing barns before crews need equipment moving again, then working back down to the driveways along the lakefront where the wind off the water keeps drifts piling against the same fences all winter. Bare orchard branches hold a thin white line on the north side only, the lake-effect breeze scouring the south-facing rows clear. Down at the ferry dock the water keeps moving, dark and unfrozen, while the roads above it stay slick until the plow passes. It is a town built on a slope over water, and the work here follows that grade up and down all season.
