Toward the north end of Camano Island, where pasture and second-growth timber open onto the flats near Utsalady and Cama Beach, TC Tractor Works runs a loader down long rural driveways that a plow truck alone can't reach. Snow out here comes in off the water and settles on gravel lanes, hayfields, and the long approaches to barns and outbuildings, and a tractor with a blade or bucket does the work a smaller rig can't. This crew opens the driveway to the equipment shed before the morning feeding, clears the turnaround by the mailbox, and pushes back the berm the county plow leaves at the end of the lane. Camano's rural roads stay narrow and unlined, so a fresh, wet snowfall can close one down to a single track fast. TC Tractor Works keeps island driveways and farm lanes passable, from the Utsalady flats down toward Elger Bay.
