Bow lies where Chuckanut Drive leaves its sandstone cliffs and drops onto the wide, flat farmland of the Samish valley, with Samish Bay opening out toward the islands. It is country of big skies, barns and dikes, where grass grows thick on deep river soil and the evening light hangs long over the water. Walkers lawn and landscape keeps Bow's yards in shape, mowing and edging lawns that sit between open fields and the forested shoulder of Blanchard Mountain. In autumn, when snow geese start arriving over the flats in long, clamoring skeins and the evenings go copper, a well-kept lawn frames the view like a mat around a painting. That is the pleasure of this work: making a home look as composed as the landscape around it.
