Palmer Landworks

About Palmer Landworks

In Bickleton the fence posts wear birdhouses, hundreds of small wooden homes put up for the mountain and western bluebirds that return each spring to this high Klickitat County plateau. At around three thousand feet, wind combs the wheat and bunchgrass, summers run dry and bright, and a green lawn is something chosen and kept on purpose. Palmer Landworks does that keeping, mowing and trimming yards that stand out like small green rugs against tawny fields and open sky. A May morning, bluebirds flashing between the posts and the turf just cut, shows what tending land up here can be. It is work that respects how hard this ground makes growing, then makes the result look effortless.
