A deck built out over a sloped lot east of Battle Ground catches whatever weather comes off Silver Star Mountain before the house behind it does, and snow that would melt off a flat yard sits on deck boards for days, held by the railings and the shade underneath. Three 60 Decks built plenty of those same decks, cantilevered out to catch the foothill view, and knows which ones trap snow against a railing long enough to rot the board underneath if it's left there. Clearing them is careful work, done with a plastic shovel and a soft touch rather than a blade, since the composite and cedar decking the company installs scratches easier than a driveway ever would. Three 60's crews start with the elevated decks first, the ones with a clear run down to a lower yard, and save the ground-level patios for last since those melt off on their own by midday. It is small-scale work compared to a driveway, but a deck holding six inches of wet snow against a house wall is its own kind of trouble.
