On a clear morning by Bangor the Olympics stand up white across Hood Canal, and the frost on an unmown lawn holds every track until the sun comes around the trees. Cleancut Lawns runs the mowing, edging and trimming that keep Kitsap yards in order through the long green months, and comes back on a schedule so nothing gets away. Grass here grows hard from March into October, fed by canal fog and rain that arrives sideways, and a lawn left alone for three weeks is a different animal than one cut every seven days. The best part of the job is walking the finished yard: uniform height, tight lines at the drive, clippings cleared off the concrete. Neat lawn, big water, mountains for a backdrop — hard to beat as an office.
