About Arbor Barber Tree Service

The streets around Les Gove Park are lined with old big-leaf maples, planted long before the park's playgrounds and pool went in, and after a hard freeze their bare branches carry a glaze that turns the whole block silver by mid-morning. Arbor Barber Tree Service spends its winters on the ground instead of in the canopy, clearing the sidewalks and driveways those same maples shade all summer. A frozen walkway under old maple roots buckles differently than a flat one, so the crew works it partly by hand, careful of the heaved concrete beneath the ice. Parents pushing strollers toward the park in the first light of a cold morning are usually the first to notice a clear path. It's a small trade for a company that spends most of the year looking up — for a few weeks each winter, the work is all in what's underfoot.
