About Northwest Arbor Care
Alderwood Manor took its name from the alders that once stood over what were, a century ago, chicken yards and cleared farm plots carved out of the forest between Everett and Seattle; the trees came back long before the neighborhoods did, and they're still what define the streets here more than any building. Northwest Arbor Care spends most winters keeping those alders, along with the firs and big-leaf maples that grew in around them, from becoming a problem: storm-damaged limbs, ice-heavy branches over a driveway, the occasional whole tree down across a yard after a hard freeze snaps something brittle. Snow itself shows up rarely on this part of the Sound, but ice is a regular winter visitor, and ice does more damage to a limb than snow ever does, coating branches until their own weight becomes the hazard. The crew clears both, cutting back what a freeze has broken and hauling off what a storm brought down, so a driveway stays open and a roofline stays clear of anything hanging over it. It's a short window most years, a week or two when the lowland actually feels like winter, but the work in it protects what the rest of the year leaves green.
