The Lawn Barber, Aberdeen, Washington

About The Lawn Barber, Aberdeen, Washington

The name says it plainly: a lawn gets the same treatment as a good haircut — an even cut, sharp lines around the edges, and nothing left on the walk when it is done. The Lawn Barber works Aberdeen's downtown blocks and the neighborhoods stacked on the slopes above them, mowing, edging, trimming and clearing the yard waste away. Grass grows nearly all year under a sky that rarely stops watering it, so the trim comes around often and the work never really goes quiet. Late afternoon on Market Street, mower loaded and the last strip of sidewalk swept, a yard that looked overgrown at noon has a part in it. Tidy, in a town like this, is a kind of respect.
