Route 9 climbs hard to reach Woodford, and up on that height the snow comes early, lingers late and piles deep. A-Z Snowmobiles knows winter as a working landscape, and offers snow removal for the drives and yards scattered through this forested town. Much of Woodford lies within the Green Mountain National Forest, and its roads thread between spruce and birch where a plowed lane is the way in and the way out. There is an alphabet of storms up here, from feather-light powder to heavy wet slop to wind-packed drifts, and each one gets cleared on its own terms. When the sun finally breaks over the ridgeline, the banks glitter on either side of a drive cut clean.
