There is a stretch of morning in Winhall when mist sits in the low ground and the stone walls come up out of it first. Northern Home works those hours — mowing, string trimming, clean edges along walks and drives, and cleanups that pull the maple leaves off a lawn before they mat down into it. The ground here is stubborn, sloped and stitched with ledge, so an even cut is something earned rather than assumed. Late in the season the hillsides turn and the yards fill twice over, and the rakes go back out. The reward is simple: a green clearing in the woods that looks cared for from the road.
