About Homestead Landscaping

Along the Winhall road the dooryards open one after another — a gravel turn, a rail fence, an old stone wall going mossy under the maples while Stratton stands blue-shouldered above it all. Homestead Landscaping works these mountain properties from Bondville out through Manchester and Dorset, laying stonework and building landscapes, keeping lawns and gardens and ornamental trees and shrubs in trim, checking on houses and handling the general maintenance a hill place asks for. Come winter the crew is out ahead of the light, clearing drives so the first car of the morning finds bare pavement and a plowed apron waiting, with kiln-dried firewood stacked by the quarter, half, or full cord for the long cold. There is a particular pleasure in the finished thing — a walkway set true, a planting bed cut clean at the edge, a mountain yard that looks cared for from the road. That is what they leave behind here, season after season, in the notch between the Green Mountains.
