Out past the dooryard maples and the old stone walls, Williston's roads widen into the broad plazas of Taft Corners, where asphalt runs up against hayfield edges and Camel's Hump stands blue in the eastern distance. IMS is a four-season maintenance company that takes on that whole surface — from a building's footprint out to the far property line — mowing and trimming the green margins, hydro-seeding and fertilizing, keeping drainage, catch basins, and storm water systems running clean from parking lot to retention pond. Come winter it is snow removal and ice control, the lot pushed back to bare pavement and the walks opened while the Champlain Valley is still dark. The rest of the year the work is sweeping and striping, crack filling and pavement repair, curb and sidewalk and flatwork, pressure washing storefronts, landscape installation and signage. There is a plain satisfaction in all of it: a fresh white line, a swept walk, a property standing ready for the day before the first car turns in.
