White Rocks stands over Wallingford like a broken wall, pale cliffs holding cold in their scree long after the valley below has warmed. Apex Land & Construction works underneath it in both directions of the year: mowing, trimming and seasonal cleanups through the green months, plowing, shoveling and sanding once the passes fill in. A Rutland County winter comes off those ridges fast, and the ground between Route 7 and the mountains takes the brunt of it. There is a plain pleasure in a lot cleared wide and square, banks pushed back where they belong. Come May the same properties get their first cut and the whole cycle starts over again.
