Route 116 runs the length of Starksboro with hills on one shoulder and the Champlain Valley opening on the other, and weather shows up early on both. Forand's LLC works the whole calendar in that corridor, mowing, trimming and edging while things are growing, then plowing, shoveling and sanding once they are not. Up the dirt roads toward Big Hollow the snow lies deeper and the grades get serious, which is exactly where a well-cleared driveway earns its keep. In summer the same roads mean long green dooryards, hayfield edges and lawns that run right to the treeline. Either way the aim is a place that looks kept and works right on a Monday morning.
