Drive Route 7 north out of St. Albans on an October evening and the sun drops behind the Adirondacks across the water, turning the hayfields the color of a struck match. Hedgehog Landscaping tends the lawns along that stretch and back in the village, mowing, string trimming, edging, and handling the cleanups that come at either end of the year. Fall is the honest test here, leaves and wind off the lake and a short window of dry days to get everything cleared. There is a real pleasure in the last cut of the season, a yard closed up neat and ready to sleep. Come spring the same rounds begin again, one lawn at a time.
