About Top Dog Landscaping

The work keeps its own tempo — the level pass of a mower across a Saint George lawn, the scrape of a shovel finding pavement, the tamp of a hand settling one more stone into a wall built to sit through frost heaves. Top Dog Landscaping works the small, folded country between the Champlain lowlands and the first green ridges, where Chittenden County's fields tip and roll and nearly every yard is cut on a gentle slant. Warm months bring spring cleanup and trimming, mulch and crisp edging, weekly mowing, flower beds designed and planted, patios and stone walls fitted into the grade; then fall cleanup, and after that the shoveling and plowing, the salting and ice maintenance, snow moved and relocated and lifted off roofs before the next front comes down the valley. There is a plain, physical satisfaction in a drive opened by headlight at five in the morning, and in a bed edged so cleanly the mulch line reads like a single drawn stroke.
