About From the Ground Up Landscaping

A mower's steady pass, the thud of a plate compactor, the scrape of a trowel drawing stone tight to stone — this is work you can hear coming and then stand on afterward. From the Ground Up Landscaping builds and keeps ground across the Rutland valley, where the Taconics hold the late light and the Green Mountains take the morning: patios, retaining walls, pavers, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces and fire pits, water features and stone veneer, alongside mowing, bed edging, mulch, fertilizing, pruning, plantings of trees, shrubs and flowers, and spring and fall cleanups. There is excavation in it too — site prep, grading, driveways and roads put in, stumps pulled — the unglamorous shaping that decides how a piece of land drains and holds for years. Come winter, when the cold slides down off Killington and settles into the valley, they plow, and a driveway is open again before the first cup of coffee. Rutland, Mendon, Pittsford, Wallingford, Pittsfield, Killington, Ludlow, Woodstock, Manchester, Dorset, Middlebury — marble country, and edges that stay crisp.
