The road south out of Richmond follows the Huntington River up between wooded hills, past the ski hill and into country that turns loud with color by the first week of October. VT Tree Service works the lawns along those roads — mowing, trimming, edging and hauling off the leaves once the hillsides let go of them. Autumn cleanup in this valley is no small job; there is a great deal of canopy overhead and every bit of it comes down eventually. Getting a yard bare and even before the ground freezes is what lets it come back cleanly in April. Through the summer it is the simpler pleasure of a lawn cut straight and finished at the edges.
