The Mettawee comes down through Pawlet in a green valley with Haystack Mountain closing off the north end of it. P&P Landscaping and Property Management keeps lawns along that river road and up the slate hills toward West Pawlet, mowing straight through the summer without letting a yard get ahead of them. Trimming and edging finish what the deck starts — around barn corners, mailbox posts, the foot of a stone wall. Twice a year the cleanups run: the spring one to clear what winter left, the fall one to strip the leaves before the valley fills with cold air. A Pawlet dooryard cut and edged is a good thing to drive past.
