The Mad River takes its time through Moretown, swinging wide below Route 100B where the fog sits low most summer mornings until the sun gets over the hills. RIVER'S BEND DESIGN works those river-flat lawns and the ones stepped up the valley sides — mowing on a regular turn, trimming tight to stonework and post, edges cut so a yard reads finished. The season opens with a spring cleanup, when everything high water and wind left behind has to go. It closes in leaf season, which in this valley is spectacular and then immediately somebody's problem. Between those two, a Moretown lawn kept even and green is a genuinely fine thing to come home to.
