Montpelier is a small city folded into hills, the gold dome catching sun at the head of State Street and Hubbard Park's woods standing directly above the rooftops. Lawns here come in odd shapes — terraced, steep, tucked behind a hedge on a side street — and mowing them well is largely a question of angles. LCE excavation and landscaping keeps them cut, trimmed and edged through the season, and clears them of leaves when the maples above the Winooski turn and drop. Late summer, with the river low and the evening light sliding down the hill, a finished yard here looks like it belongs to the town. The work runs through Montpelier and the towns immediately nearby.
