Five covered bridges still stand in Lyndon, and the Passumpsic runs beneath enough of them to make the town feel stitched together. Burnett Outdoor Services keeps the lawns on both banks — mowing on a set rotation, trimming around posts, walls and the roots that come with river ground, edging drives and walkways, and cleanups each spring and fall for mud-season debris and October's fall. Along the water the grass grows thick and the ground stays soft, so timing a cut matters as much as making it. A straight-edged lawn beside old bridge timbers is a satisfying thing to drive past. Lyndon, Lyndonville, East Burke, Wheelock and the nearby towns are covered.
