The West River threads down through South Londonderry, low and clear in August and iced at its edges by December, and the properties along it change character just as completely. Lancaster Management works both halves of that year — mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups while the valley is green, then plowing, shoveling and ice treatment once it goes white. Empty weeks are common in this part of Vermont, so a place has to look tended whether or not anybody is home. Drives get opened after a storm, lawns get cut on schedule, walks stay walkable in either season. A house that always looks looked-after is the entire point.
