About Colby Hill Landscape Co

By mid-October the light comes down off Mount Abraham slantwise and turns every lawn in Lincoln the color of old brass. Colby Hill Landscape Co. keeps mowing through it — up the dirt roads above the New Haven River, across dooryards shaded by sugar maples, cutting clean lines into grass that has spent all summer growing toward the hills. There is a plain satisfaction in the last pass of the season: the edge crisp against the walk, the clippings settling, a yard that holds its shape right up to the first hard frost. This is lawn care in a valley town where the mountain sets the hour and a well-kept dooryard is a small, steady kind of welcome. Their work runs through Lincoln and the neighboring Addison County towns — Bristol, Starksboro, Ripton, New Haven.
