About C Small Property Services

A retaining wall set true will hold a hillside for a very long time, and there is a plain satisfaction in stepping back from the last stone — the walkway lying flat, the patio squared to the afternoon light. C Small Property Services works that way around Hartland, Vermont, where the Connecticut River valley folds up into hills stitched with old stone walls and dirt roads that climb past hayfields. The green months are mowing and weed-wacking, pruning shrubs that have gotten away from themselves, spring and fall cleanups with leaf blowing, dethatching and a clean edge, lawn repair after winter or grubs, flower gardens and young trees put in the ground to outlast the planting. Heavier work shapes the land itself: ditches and culverts, driveways, foundations and full house sites, pads, land clearing, ponds, stump removal. Then winter buries the drive, and plowing and sanding open it again before the day has properly started.
