Adams' All Season Care

About Adams' All Season Care

Light arrives late in West Halifax — it has to climb the hardwood ridges of southern Vermont first, then spill down the dirt roads into the hollows, and the work here has always answered to that slow schedule. Adams' All Season Care mows lawns and open fields, trims shrubs, rakes the spring and fall down to bare ground, spreads colored mulch, rototills gardens, pressure washes what winter left behind, and hauls in topsoil and gravel to keep a hill-town driveway from sliding into the brook. Trees come down and brush goes out; logs come back through the processor as select hardwoods cut to one honest length, stacked tight against a January that means it. And when the storms swing up the valley, the plow, the sander, the shovel on the deck and the walkway — sidewalks salted, driveways opened, a house checked while its owners are away — turn a buried property back into a place a person can live. What stays behind is the pleasure of it: a clean edge along the field, a bank of dark mulch, a yard that holds its season in Windham County and the towns around it.
