Hogan Excavating works out of Glinka Road in Cabot, Vermont, where the hill farms tip toward the ridgelines and every driveway is an argument with ledge, clay, and gravity. This is earth-moving work in its full range — demolition and land clearing, site prep for new houses, septic systems, driveways built and rebuilt, retaining walls, drainage and culverts, hauling, field reclamation and brush hogging — plus snow removal when the roads go white and stay that way. There is a real satisfaction in it: a culvert set so the spring runoff has somewhere to go, an overgrown field handed back to daylight, a driveway crowned and graded so cleanly it sheds a rainstorm without complaint.
