Centennial Woods runs right up against the neighborhoods on Burlington's east side, ferns and hemlock on one side of the line and mown grass on the other. Native Vermont Landscaping tends that second side — mowing, trimming, edging, mulching beds, and clearing the yard down in spring and again in fall. Late August is the honest test: the rain stops, the days shorten, and a lawn either holds or it does not. Working with what actually grows in the Champlain Valley, rather than against it, is the difference. Come September the yards green back up and look like they belong exactly where they are.
