About DMI Paving Inc

Up the hill streets off Main, the dooryards run narrow and the old stone walls come right to the edge of the pavement, so that after a night of weather the whole town wakes to find the shape of things rearranged. DMI Paving Inc works those mornings around Brattleboro, clearing driveways and lots so the first car out doesn't have to guess where the gravel ends and the wall begins. There is a plain satisfaction in a drive pushed back to its true width — banks squared off, the turnaround wide enough to swing a truck in, the path to the road opened before valley light comes over Wantastiquet. Snow falls on the Connecticut River valley the way it always has; the work is simply making room for an ordinary Tuesday to happen anyway.
