Morning in Brandon starts with mist off the low ground toward Otter Creek, burning back into the limestone ridges east of town by about eight. Lime Ridge LLC is out in it early, mowing while the dew is still down, edging along drives, trimming in close against foundations. Yards here run to old pasture that never quite forgot it was pasture — bumps, ledge near the surface, a slope or two that asks for a patient pass. Cleanups bracket the year, one clearing the winter off the grass, the other clearing the maples off it. It is honest ground to mow, and it shows well when the work is finished.
