Sand Hill Dirt Works

About Sand Hill Dirt Works

Andover is a hill town in the plainest sense — scarce flat ground, plenty of dirt road, and driveways that tip uphill through maple and spruce toward houses set back in the woods. When a storm stacks snow across those grades, Sand Hill Dirt Works handles snow removal in Andover, pushing drives open so a car can climb without spinning out halfway up. A crew that moves dirt for a living knows a slope by feel, and it shows in a grade cleared wide enough to turn around on, with the banks set well back into the trees. By morning there's a clean dark ribbon running up the hillside and woodsmoke drifting off the ridges. Out here, that ribbon is the road to everything else.
